Hi everyone!
It’s been two months since my last exam, and because I’ve been working hard on a few Summer goals, I thought I’d take some time to write about them on my blog.

When Summer comes around, I always plan to be completely productive – never wasting a single bit of time, but of course, the reality is never as simple as the initial idea. In all fairness, I haven’t really been productive until a couple weeks ago.

Luckily, in the last month or so, I’ve started to really get everything together, and with still two months left until I return to university, I’m hopeful I’ll be able to complete most things I wish to achieve this Summer.

Here are a couple of things I planned to complete at the end of exam season, and how far my goals have developed since then…

Summer Goals

  • Get a jobSince the end of last month, I am officially employed, working as a Sports and Leisure Assistant at a school. I may be working a second job this month too, thanks to my mum’s work as they currently need someone to do filing, faxing, organising, etc.

  • Revise Driving TheoryI originally passed my driving theory nearly two years ago, but because I haven’t taken lessons yet, I will need to eventually re-take my theory. Because of this I’m doing some revision flash cards now. I’ve only done three/four sections so far, but I will probably have them ready in time for a re-take in October.

  • Finish my Open University CoursesI thought, if I had enough spare time, I’d do a couple of online courses from June-September. So far I have completed a course called Changing Law: Mental Capacity Legislation, and I am still working on Beginner’s French and Children and Violence: An Introductory, international and interdisciplinary approach.

  • Eat wellI’m just going to be honest, I am failing this objective miserably.

  • Finish editing my first manuscriptThis may be the seventh or eighth time I have edited down my manuscript, in order to make it as perfect as possible. I’ve decided that this Summer will be my final read through and edit. I have about one hundred pages left to read [*I’m on chapter 19 out of 27*], and hopefully after this I can just leave it alone and continue to submit it to various places.

  • Finish writing my second manuscriptThis is another objective that is a bit hit and miss at the moment, mainly because I cannot decide whether to write the sequel to my first manuscript or start something entirely new. Because of this I am like three chapters into both, and have hit writer’s block.

  • Visit friendsI have visited a couple of friends during my time off, but not many. We’ve been to places such as Star City, where we played Mini-Golf, and Stratford-Upon-Avon’s Butterfly Farm.

  • Work on my WordPress blog and photographyDuring May (exam season), I only posted one blog article that month. Since then, I have tried to keep a strict schedule, which has been going a bit hit and miss. It’s hard to think of ideas and actually stick to them sometimes. But I’m still aiming to push some type of blog pot out every three/four days.

How’re your Summer goals going? I’d love to know! Feel free to share in the comments.

  1. These are some great goals, it just sounds like you’ve given yourself a lot to do this summer. Editing manuscripts sounds amazing I hope to be able to write a book one day x

  2. Good luck with your goals! I need to set my august ones (and perhaps revisit my July ones and see how much and what I’ve completed). Like yourself, I should probs focus on eating better and taking care of my health, and investing more time in my blog!
